2. Physical and chemical properties
HPMC is a non-ionic water-soluble cellulose mixed ether. White or off-white powder or granules, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, slightly hygroscopic. Although it has roughly the same performance as methyl cellulose, its solubility in organic solvents, in addition to its properties of dispersion, emulsification, bonding, thickening, water retention, film formation, and thermal gelation, It is superior to methyl cellulose and hydroxyethyl cellulose, and its gel temperature in aqueous solution is much higher than that of methyl cellulose. The proportions of the two groups are different, and they become different varieties in terms of performance.

3. Product performance
The product combines many physical and chemical properties to become a unique product with multiple uses, and the various properties are as follows:
3.1. Water solubility
The product can be dissolved in water with different amounts of water, its high concentration is limited only by the viscosity.
3.2. Organic solubility
The product is soluble in some organic solvents, such as ethanol/water, propanol/water, dichloroethane and a solvent system composed of two organic solvents.
3.3. Non-ionic inertness
The product is a non-ionic cellulose ether, which will not combine with metal salts or other ions to form insoluble precipitates.
3.4. Thermal gelation
The aqueous solution of the product will form a gel when heated to a certain temperature, and the formed gel will become a solution again after cooling.
3.5. Surface activity
Provide surface activity in solution to achieve the required emulsification and protective colloid, as well as phase stabilization.
3.6. Suspension
Prevents the settling of solid particles and thus the formation of precipitates.
3.7. Protective colloid
Prevents coalescence or condensation of droplets and particles.
3.8. Adhesion

3.9 film formation
It can form a transparent, tough and soft film with excellent oil resistance.
3.10 acid-base stability
Suitable for use within the range of PH value 3.0-11.0.
3.11 Tasteless and odorless, not affected by metabolism
Used as food and drug additives, they are not metabolized in food and do not provide calories.
4. How to use
4.1 add the product into hot water (80-90°C) with 1/3 -1/5 of the required water volume, stir and disperse until it swells completely, then add the remaining cold water and cool down until completely dissolved by stirring.
4.2 The surface-treated product can be directly dissolved in cold water under stirring. For rapid dissolution, adjust the pH value to 8-10 with ammonia water or alkaline water, and the product will quickly dissolve and form a solution.
4.3 First, make the product into a higher concentration mother liquor for later use (the method is the same as above), and add cold water to continue stirring until a uniform solution is formed.
4.4 Due to the good compatibility of the product, it can be directly mixed with most products, such as gypsum powder, cement, lime calcium powder, starch, etc.
5. Purpose
5.1 special chemical products
In chemical production and processing operations, as a thickener, suspending agent, binder, film-forming agent and latex stabilizer;
5.2 Polyvinyl chloride resin
As a dispersant for suspension polymerization, it is used to protect colloids, improve the efficiency of absorbing plasticizers, control the distribution of resin particle size, and improve the processing performance of polyvinyl chloride resin.
5.3 Building materials and ceramic products
(HPMC) is used in gypsum products to endow the products with excellent water retention and bonding. For example: bonding gypsum, plastering gypsum, insulation mortar, caulking gypsum, etc.
(HPMC) is used in cement mortar to maintain water, reduce the loss of water on the concrete surface, avoid cracks, and improve adhesion, cohesiveness and construction performance. For example, it is used in new environmental protection materials such as tile adhesives, cement interface agents, mortar kings, self-leveling floors, and thermal insulation mortars.
(HPMC) is used in waterproof coatings. For example: watertight and water-resistant putty for interior and exterior walls.
(HPMC) is used in ceramic products as a binder and water retention agent to improve viscosity and shrinkage, and to improve product strength and uniformity.

5.4 Binder
It is used as a thickener and binder in the formulation of the adhesive.
5.5 Coating
Used in latex and water-soluble paint components, as a film-forming agent, thickener, and emulsifier to make the paint have good wear resistance, fluidity, leveling property, storage stability and solvent resistance to heavy metal pigments.
5.6 Cosmetics
Adjust the rheology to make the product have proper viscosity, emulsification, stability, lubricity and foam stability, as well as the compatibility of surfactants.
5.7 Food
As a thickener, binder, stabilizer, water retaining agent, forming agent and colloidal suspending agent for baked food, nutritious food, bread and other foods.
5.8 Textiles
As a thickener and binder in textile pastes, printing and dyeing pastes or latex paints.
5.9 Paint remover
Take advantage of its compatibility with water and organic solvents as a paint remover and as a thickener for flushing agents.
5.10 Paint and latex paint
As a protective colloid, thickener and pigment suspension aid for latex paints. Make the paint viscosity stable and the paint film complete.
5.11 Medicine
As a binder for tablets, a film coating for tablets, and a stabilizer for ointments and creams.
5.12 Pesticides
Dispersion agents for sprays, adhesives, protective films and wettable pesticide powders.
5.13 Various resins
Forming release agent and film former for fiber reinforced plastics.
5.14 Cigarettes
As a binder and film-forming agent for tobacco leaves.
